Every process begins with a complimentary Discovery Call. This 15-20 minute phone call simply allows me to chat more about your needs and how I can help. It's an informal conversation about your renovation or new build project and what you generally have in mind. I will also discuss my service offerings & pricing. No obligation, no stress.
After our discovery call, we mutually agree to move forward to the next step in the process: the Consultation. This is an important step to begin your home transformation.
During this pre-paid 90-minute appointment, I meet with you in your home where I offer ideas & suggestions, we develop the scope of work for your project, and I answer your questions. This is the jumping off point which allows me to provide a detailed Scope of Work and my super itemized Design Fee Proposal.
Creative is all of the design related work that will become a part of your project.
I develop a design direction which includes space planning, high quality 3D renderings, millwork design, finishes, fixtures, and furniture design & selection, artwork selections, accessories selections, etc.; essentially, anything that is visual and needs my design expertise is part of the Creative portion of the process. I then prepare a detailed presentation package including all the fun samples for you to see, touch, and feel at the presentation!
This investment is for my Creative services only and does not include the purchase price of any products, labour, or installations. Creative fees are determined by the Scope of Work developed with you during the Consultation and calculated as a flat fee.
Project Fulfillment involves all of the behind the scenes work required to bring your project to completion. It includes communicating with the contractor & trades, site visits, workroom visits, furniture/artwork/accessories procurement, etc. I also coordinate the installation of furniture/artwork/accessories, window coverings, wallpaper, etc.
Project Fulfillment hours are estimated in the Design Fee Proposal and billed by the hour.
Every design process begins with you. Once we agree to work together, you'll enjoy a highly curated and customized experience. An interior designer can help you save money & time. Designers are trained to see undertones in paint and fabric that the average person might miss. Have you ever painted a wall three times trying to get the perfect colour, but somehow it's never quite right? A designer can help you avoid such costly mistakes that take up more time than is necessary. Your designer will be thinking about the big picture and is continually considering the scale and balance of each element/item and how they work together. Your designer will become your ally throughout your project and has the necessary language and design terminology to communicate your wishes to the contractor and trades. Designers spend their days thinking creatively and spatially. They are trained to think outside the box and look at your project as a whole, so that the end result has continuity and flow. Designers have access to a wide network of contacts and resources in the industry. This means that they can source unique and high-quality finishes, fabrics, and furniture that are not available to the general public. Investing in a professional interior designer can add value to your home, as a well-designed space can be a major selling point for potential buyers. Even if you’re not planning on selling anytime soon, a beautifully designed home can make you feel happier and more comfortable in your space. Working with an interior designer can help you achieve the wow factor that you’ve been dreaming of. Whether it’s a bold statement tile or wallpaper, a unique lighting fixture, or a custom piece of furniture, your designer can help you create a space that truly stands out and leaves a lasting impression.
I always say, the sooner the better! Your designer is an integral part of creating not only a comfortable & beautiful space, but a functional space. I will often work together with your architect and can help avoid the need for major changes later on. Hiring an interior designer as early as possible will ensure a better outcome for your project.
Good design takes time! I prefer to have time to focus on each project and will block dedicated design time to work specifically on the Creative phase of your project. Provided the proposal is accepted and a non-refundable retainer is received, most clients wait anywhere from 3 to 12 weeks for the design process to start. The scope of the project determines the time necessary to complete the design and can take 8 weeks to several months. For example, a typical lifespan of the Creative phase for a medium size renovation project is 3–9 months, depending on the size and scope of work. A new build custom home generally requires 10-12 months or more to create a full interior design package.
This is the number one question I get asked and sometimes the hardest to answer! First, remember that you set the budget you want to spend. Of course, this simple phrase doesn't help to answer the question right away, but it's the honest truth. That being said, I am here to help!
At the consultation meeting, before any design has begun, we begin budget conversations with a thorough review of typical costs via our detailed Investment Guide. This guide shows you the average costs of everything from renovations, to furnishings, to hardwood flooring - in various pricing categories, so that you can better understand how to develop a budget for your project. There are going to be some areas where you will want to 'splurge' and others where you might want to cut back; I can help you make those important decisions. At the end of our consultation, you will have a clear idea of the investment you would like to make for your project.
Absolutely! This is your home and I want you to love where you live! I will asses each piece you wish to keep to determine the best way to incorporate them into the design plan. I will take measurements of each item during the site measure.
I take on projects of all sizes, from new build custom homes and renovations, kitchens & bathrooms, right down to smaller projects including furniture, artwork, and accessories.
