Claire Yeung & Vivienne Stewart
I use a specialized three-phase process to naturally pull out the details of your life and translate them into beautiful and functional spaces in your home that match how you live, work, and play.
When it’s all done, you'll love coming home and think: “ I didn’t know it was even possible to have a home that felt like this."
This is what you can expect in each phase of the residential design process:
After we meet in your home for the Consultation, I develop the Scope of Work and provide you with a super itemized Design Fee Proposal. You agree and sign-on to work with me and now we get into the heart of what you really want. Through conversation and questionnaires, we’ll narrow down exactly how you want your home to look and feel.
I believe that a home should tell a story about the people who live there.
After listening carefully to your wants and needs, pulling out your preferences, and thoughtfully considering your lifestyle and personality, I’ll start sourcing (interior design lingo for shopping), and sourcing, and sourcing some more. Then I will turn your preferences into a design presentation.
This is the development phase, where we eliminate the confusion and make it easy to visualize your solution - turning your dream into a home you’re proud of.
Once you have signed-off on the design and selections, I get to work behind-the-scenes, compiling all of the approved drawings and selections into a complete construction package to give to your contractor. This comprehensive set of instructions allows the contractor and trades to execute the design as intended.
While the contractor and trades are renovating your home, I will visit the site at key milestones to check on progress and answer questions. During construction, I will get to work on procurement. Sit back and let me handle ALL of the details for you. That includes every little step like:
I handle everything behind-the-scenes—so you don’t have to! There's no stress of chasing down vendors, payments, and returns.
And finally....imagine stepping through your front door into your newly transformed home and finding yourself unable to stop smiling. I take great joy in creating that 'hand-to-your-heart' moment for my clients—the instant they experience the relief and delight of their beautifully designed new spaces.
The home you once dreamed about comes to life in this final phase of the process. Depending on the size and scope of your project, the installation of your hand-selected pieces are completed in a single day or in multiple stages. Often clients give me a key, I let them know when I'll be there, and I make it happen! Once all of the big pieces are in, I hang the art, accessorize, and fluff every last pillow.
This isn’t just about design or furniture. This is about truly coming “home.”

An interior designer can help you save money & time. Designers are trained to see undertones in paint and fabric that the average person might miss. Have you ever painted a wall three times trying to get the perfect colour, but somehow it's never quite right? A designer can help you avoid such costly mistakes that take up more time than is necessary. Your designer will be thinking about the big picture and is continually considering the scale and balance of each element/item and how they work together. Your designer will become your ally throughout your project and has the necessary language and design terminology to communicate your wishes to the contractor and trades. Designers spend their days thinking creatively and spatially. They are trained to think outside the box and look at your project as a whole, so that the end result has continuity and flow. Designers have access to a wide network of contacts and resources in the industry. This means that they can source unique and high-quality finishes, fabrics, and furniture that are not available to the general public. Investing in a professional interior designer can add value to your home, as a well-designed space can be a major selling point for potential buyers. Even if you’re not planning on selling anytime soon, a beautifully designed home can make you feel happier and more comfortable in your space. Working with an interior designer can help you achieve the wow factor that you’ve been dreaming of. Whether it’s a bold statement tile or wallpaper, a unique lighting fixture, or a custom piece of furniture, your designer can help you create a space that truly stands out and leaves a lasting impression.
I always say, the sooner the better! Your designer is an integral part of creating not only a comfortable & beautiful space, but a functional space. I will often work together with your architect and can help avoid the need for major changes later on. Hiring an interior designer as early as possible will ensure a better outcome for your project.
For large-scale renovations and new construction projects, the design process can span 6 to 9 months, reflecting its depth and complexity. For smaller renovations, like a kitchen or bathroom, the design process typically takes around 3 to 4 months. For furnishings-only projects, the process can span 3 to 6 months, depending on the scope and complexity. The best results are always produced when there is enough time to consider every detail of your project. You will know the schedule and estimated timeline of your project once you sign up with us and we add your project to our schedule.
This is the number one question I get asked and sometimes the hardest to answer! First, remember that you set the budget you want to spend. Of course, this simple phrase doesn't help to answer the question right away, but it's the honest truth. That being said, I am here to help!
At the consultation meeting, before any design has begun, we begin budget conversations with a thorough review of typical costs via our detailed Investment Guide. This guide shows you the average costs of everything from renovations, to furnishings, to hardwood flooring - in various pricing categories, so that you can better understand how to develop a budget for your project. There are going to be some areas where you will want to 'splurge' and others where you might want to cut back; I can help you make those important decisions. At the end of our consultation, you will have a clear idea of the investment you would like to make for your project.
Absolutely! This is your home and I want you to love where you live! I will asses each piece you wish to keep to determine the best way to incorporate them into the design plan. I will take measurements of each item during the site measure.
I take on projects of all sizes, from new build custom homes and renovations, kitchens & bathrooms, right down to smaller projects including furniture, artwork, and accessories.
